SPH Publishing are opening a publishing house in Sheffield. They are looking for some new magazines to cater for a Sheffield audience in a range of genres. 

You have been asked to create four pages ( front cover content double page) of a new magazine aimed at a Sheffield audience. 

Genres could include: 

1. Local events magazine 

2. Music magazine 

3. Sports magazine 

4. Technology based magazine 

All content produced must be original and produced by you. However any copyright- free assets may be used, but must be referenced. 

LO1: Be able to create a proposal with sample materials for an original media product to a client brief 

This LO is worth a MERIT grade 

To complete this LO, you need to complete the following: 

You will create a proposal that outlines your ideas for your intended magazine including: 

· Specification 

· Purpose 

· Form and genre 

· Content 

· Target audience 

· Resources and personnel 

· Distribution and marketing methods 

· Sample materials 

Deadline: October half term 

LO2: Be able to assess locations, risks and legal and ethical issues relevant to their print media product, finding solutions to any risks identified 

This LO is worth a PASS grade 

Create pre-production materials for your chosen final magazine production including: 

· Mind map of ideas 

· Reader profile 

· House style moodboards with annotations 

· Visualisation diagrams 

· Draft articles 

· Production plan 

· Production schedules 

· Resolve legal and ethical issues 

Deadline date: 1st February 2023 

LO3: Be able to produce materials for use in an original print media product 

This LO is worth a MERIT grade 

For this LO, you need to show that you have: 

a) Created production materials to be used in the original media product 

b) Create production materials that follows the codes and conventions of the chosen genre for the media product. 

Deadline date: Easter 2023

LO4: Be able to edit materials to produce a final print media product 

This LO is worth a DISTINCTION grade 

For this LO, you need to show evidence of how you: 

1. Carried out post-production techniques and processes to produce a final original media product in line with the client brief. 

2. Demonstrate hot the exported media product meets the client brief. 

3. Analyse how post-production techniques and processes create meaning in the media product to meet the client brief.
